Ableton Video Spots (Concept)

As an assignment for class, we were tasked with creating video ad ideas that were less than 7 seconds to be optimized for YouTube. I created three spots for Ableton, a music production and performance software.

Ableton is the software of choice for both hobbyists to the worlds biggest artists and producers. I wanted to lean into this unique position and create a series of advertisements that would show Ableton and its peripheral hardware as the perfect tool for any artists looking to make music the right way.

Skrillex Stage Dive

The first spot is created from GoPro footage of hit EDM artist Skrillex. In the footage we see him using Ableton and a peripheral live on stage, and then diving into the crowd. This spot shows that Ableton is perfect for live use and that professionals use Ableton.

Ableton Variety

This spot jumps quickly between a wide variety of prominent artists who are all Ableton users. Also, all of the clips (except for Daft Punk) have Ableton or an official peripheral showing in the clip. This spot aims to associate with Ableton with these hitmakers and position Ableton as the tool to be a great artist.

Madeon

The final spot features the video from electronic artist Madeon. This short uses footage from Madeon’s viral mashup titled “Pop Culture,” which gave him his first major exposure and propelled his career into being one of the most popular names in electronic music today. Madeon is a perfect example of an artist who rose from a bedroom hobbyist to a mainstream producer using Ableton software and hardware. This spot serves to show the usage of Ableton products, and remind viewers that anyone has the potential be great, especially if they use Ableton.

Each spot ends with the sound of Ableton’s metronome that plays before the software begins recording, and uses Ableton’s slogan: Create Amazing Things.
