SOS!

SOS, or Save Our Seas, was a marketing project created by myself alongside some of my M-School cohorts. Through SOS we aimed to curb the amount of single use plastics ending up on our local beaches. To do so, we created an E-Book (or “SeaBook”) that contained information about the effects of plastic in the ocean, tips and info about living sustainably, and information about local restaurants that had fulfilled our requisites for being eco-friendly. Proceeds from the SeaBook went to the Ocean Conservancy Foundation and the Surfrider Foundation. To encourage purchases, sales of the SeaBook would enter the buyer into a raffle for 1 of 3 prize packages containing various lifestyle products made from sustainable materials.

This project was a huge learning experience for me. Our first attempt, which involved partnering with various sustainable restaurants in the area, fell completely flat. Teaching myself how to pick up the pieces, observe what was working and not working, and re-aim the team was a fantastic lesson that I am going to be able to apply to all my larger-scale campaigns moving forward.
